About the Hub

This hub was created by the British Red Cross for the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, to help promote a consistent approach to community engagement and accountability.

It is also open to anyone interested in the subject or who works in or is studying the humanitarian and development field.

Funded by the UK Department for International Development, it helps put community engagement at the heart of everything we do.

Community engagement and accountability (CEA) is an approach to Red Cross and Red Crescent programming and operations.

CEA’s goal is to provide timely, relevant and potentially life-saving information to communities. Using a range of communication techniques, it helps people find out about, share and give feedback on our work.

The hub contains learning materials, tools and guidance to help you integrate community engagement and accountability into your work. Supported by our active community of Red Cross Red and Crescent staff and volunteers, the hub is a place to swap ideas, share advice, connect with others and learn best practice.

All our guides and tools can be downloaded and adapted to suit your project’s needs. They cover many activities associated with community engagement and accountability.

If you have a question, need advice, or would like to discuss a specific issue, you can get expert help and support from our chat forum on Facebook.

If you have any questions or suggestions about the hub, please contact Laurel Selby at the British Red Cross on: lselby@redcross.org.uk
